Entertaining the community for over 100 years!
After months of uncertainty brought about by the numerous delays to the opening of the John Wilson Town Hall, ACAOS have begun rehearsals for the 1971 smash hit Godspell.
Currently enjoying a revival on Broadway to rave reviews, Godspell is crammed full of movement, dance, physical comedy and cabaret as it tells the Greatest Story Ever Told through a wide variety of musical styles taking in pop, rock, vaudeville and gospel.
We need you!
ACAOS were thrilled to welcome back the brilliant Tom and Lisa as our production team for Godspell, this time joined by a new face in the shape of Neil, our brand spanking new musical director. Rehearsals are now in full swing and the cast is already being put through their paces by this experienced and talented new team and early indications are that this show will be one to remember. As always, however, we are keen to swell the ranks, so if you fancy coming along then why not drop in to meet the gang every Tuesday night from 7.15pm – there’s still plenty of time to get involved! Contact Alan Smith at membership@airdrieandcoatbridgeaos.co.uk to arrange an informal chat or to ask any questions.
After a lengthy battle with bureaucracy, ACAOS finally received the news from Guiness World Records last month that everyone knew already – they are the best in the world. Check out our photo below that shows President Grant Johnston, flanked by club members and bus dwellers, holding aloft the iconic and much sought after Guiness World Record certificate confirming ACAOS a world record holder after cramming 133 people onto a double decker bus.
Grant said “of course, the best thing about this exercise was the money raised for charity, but it was also fantastic to see so many friends of the club turn out on what was a bitterly cold day to do their bit to support the club and its cause”. ACAOS managed to raise a total just shy of £3000 for Comic Relief through their efforts. Stay tuned for more hair-brained schemes...
It's now been a couple of weeks since we squished 133 people onto a double decker bus, demolishing the previous record and raising in the region of £2500 at the same time!
We're currently in the process of submitting the application to Guinness to make it all official and well let you know once we've heard from them but in the meantime click here to a see a small selection of pics from the big day.
ACAOS are getting ready to smash a Guinness World Record to smithereens, raising money for Comic Relief in the process and doing it all, well, in a very SUMMER HOLIDAY type way.
On Saturday the 12th of March you'll find our cast, crew, friends and - of course - our big red bus at The Quadrant in Coatbridge Town Centre between 12pm and 4pm, where we'll attempt to beat the world record for cramming people onto a double decker bus, all in the name of Comic Relief the charity that raises money for good causes both at home and abroad.
IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SUPPORT US (and of course Comic Relief) by making a donation, then please visit my.rednoseday.com/acaosonthebus
IF YOU'D LIKE TO JOIN US ON THE BUS then please contact Steve Taylor at scotsmaninbarca@yahoo.co.uk for further details.
Hope to see you there!
